Change The Visited Link Color In Chrome How To Open AHere's how to open a different browser on Mac and set it default. This is the latest in my series of accessibility best practices after getting frustrated with using a keyboard on the internet. Last time I talked about enter submitting forms, this time I’m going to explain why removing the browser’s default focus outline is a bad idea. Focus RingsInstall Custom Google Visited Link Color.![]() In times gone by, the visited links would show in a different, user chosen color. Click on a link or two and use the back button each time to return to that google page. Would you try that same experiment? Do any google search. I opened google, chose some generic search, clicked on a couple of the links and each time came back to the google page to find those visited links having NO COLOR CHANGE, just like on my computer. So I find it hard to believe there is something wrong on both of our machines but that most others see color change when they do that same experiment. Are you saying that most folks, including yourself, DO have visited links on say a google search page show up as a different color? Meaning there is perhaps something that's gone wrong in my User account as was suggested in part of that long post? But that doesn't make sense because I just went in and started up my wife's newer (than mine) MacBook Pro. I sort of got lost in it before I got to the end. I am happy to provide full Launch Agent details if anybody is interested.Normally when browsers load a page they render previously visited links listed in History in a distinctive default colour. Whilst the Launch Agent is sufficiently mature to publish the Perl script is not. I have also developed a Perl script which overcomes the problem with its own embedded server. It is always safest to backup first.I am not aware of a satisfactory solution but about a year ago I wrote the explanation below. I mean I'm going back to the days where there was an explicit choice for visited link colors in Safari.Your thoughts? I will go try Firefox next but I'm not changing to Firefox for other reasons so that is somewhat mute. This appears to be an issue affecting most versions of Safari from about version 5 onwards.I recently experienced it with Safari version 5.0.6 and eventually found a fix adequate for my purposes.1 - Sometimes simply selecting 'Private Browsing' (on Safari menu) and then deselecting it cures the problem.2 - If that does not work I use the following Terminal command which has, so far, worked every time:Defaults write com.apple.Safari RegisteredSafariSyncClient -bool falseI must point out that I do not intend to use any sync services but it appears that if Safari gets confused it is necessary to use this command to reset its sync services.3 - If you don't like using the Terminal command you could trash the following preference file although this more brutal approach is more likely to lose data:~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plistQuit from Safari before attempting 2 or 3.I have only tested the Terminal command on Safari 5.0.6 on a Leopard G4 without any user defined sync services but it will probably work on other versions and OSs. using a page or link which puts 'newwindow=1' in the search results URL.Google visited links indication failure can be avoided by never shutting down the browser or by not invoking a new window.I have developed a Launch Agent containing a bash script which modifies History.plist items containing Google redirects. selecting a new window by right clicking or The modified links contain random characters so that each launch of the browser contains different URLs for the same page hence inhibiting normal visited link indication.Google visited links indication failure occurs for links that open another window, frame or tab caused by: Google now modifies the URL of links opening in other windows so that the URL is no longer the same as the one stored in History prior to the latest browser launch. This is particularly useful when the link opens another window. All this worked efficiently with Google searches until its JavaScript was changed a few years ago. Free mac cleaner osx 751Does anybody know of a way to do this without quitting from Safari? ie is it possible to tell Safari to reload its memory without it overwriting the History. Does anybody know of any similar developments or workarounds?
